Emeritus Professor Geoff Cleghorn
Dr. Geoffrey Cleghorn is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School and trained in pediatric gastroenterology in Toronto, Canada, under the guidance of J. Richard Hamilton and Peter Durie. Professor Cleghorn held various positions at the University of Queensland, including Director of Research at the School of Medicine and Deputy Head of School, and was the Foundation Director of the Institute for Biomedical Innovation – Centre for Children’s Health Research at the Queensland University of Technology. He established the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre along with Ross Shepherd in 1985 at the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane.
Professor Cleghorn has published over 350 scientific articles and book chapters and received numerous research grants from national and international bodies. His work includes significant contributions to pediatric nutrition. He has developed a strong network in Asia, trained innumerable clinicians and scientists, and been involved in numerous multinational trials. He has also been a key figure in pediatric liver transplantation and nutritional research. He established a seminal understanding of preoperative nutritional rehabilitation and transplant outcomes.
